Sounion ( Temple of Poseidon )

Cape Sounion is located on the southen tip of the Greek mainland south of Athens
This was a very strategic site and the Athenians built a temple here to the God Posiedon
This is the view coming down towards the tip with the remains of the temple on the hill

The east side of the Temple, it is thought that these remains date from around 440 BC

The sea facing front of the temple in the early evening
We timed our trip for the sunset which is why the columns have such a red colour to them

Around the back of the Temple
