The Gates into Alhambra

Two of the Gates into the Alhambra are quite famous, the Wine Gate and Justice Gate
This is the wine gate from the inside there are conflicting stories as why it is called Wine Gate
One story is that wine drank there was not subject to tax, the other story is that the name
in Arabic got mixed up between the words Red and Wine which are similar

This is the Wine gate from the outside, notice the key symbol over the entrance

The key is a symbol of 7 which has meaning in Islam, such as the 7 heavens in the Koran

This gate is the Justice gate which has an interesting symbol shown in the next picture

This hand inscribed over the gate represents the 5 pillars of Islam
It is said that the Alhambra will stand until the hand grabs the key, whenever that is :)
